Yuzo Kataoka Named as Endorsing Artist for Conn-Selmer

Conn-Selmer, Inc is pleased to announce that Yuzo Kataoka is a new addition to its Artist Endorsement Roster for King trombones. Professional musicians and instructors around the world endorse instruments from Conn-Selmer, including instruments by Bach, Selmer, C.G. Conn, King, Leblanc, Ludwig/Musser, and others.
Yuzo was born in Tokyo and started playing trombone in the brass band of his middle school. As a high school student, he joined “Toshiyuki Miyama and the New Herd” and played with them for five years. After leaving this group he started various activities as a jazz trombonist. Currently he has his own group, the “Yuzo Kataoka Quartet” in addition to playing in big bands including “No Name Horses (led by Makoto Ozone),” “Nobuo Hara with Sharps and Flats,” “Junko Moriya Orchestra,” and “Frontpage Orchestra.” Yuzo also plays as a soloist in many combos of Sadao Watanabe, Terumasa Hino, Masahiko Osaka, Tetsuro Kawashima, Eiji Kitamura, Eiji Taniguchi and many more. In June 2006, he produced and released his first album titled “Yuzo Kataoka Quartet.”
“Yuzo is now one of an elite group of endorsing artists for King, and we are proud to have him as part of our family”, says Rebecca Weissman, artist relations coordinator at Conn-Selmer. “Endorsing artists are an integral, valuable part of our company and we appreciate their efforts in promoting music education on our behalf”.
