Kenneth Fung Named as Endorsing Artist for Conn-Selmer

Conn-Selmer, Inc is pleased to announce that Kenneth Fung is a new addition to its Artist Endorsement Roster for Bach trumpets. Professional musicians and instructors around the world endorse instruments from Conn-Selmer, including instruments by Bach, Selmer, C.G. Conn, King, Leblanc, Ludwig/Musser, and others.
Kenneth is currently chairperson of the Hong Kong Band Directors Association, the Hong Kong Trumpet Guild as well as vice president of the China Trumpet Guild. He has also been serving as Chairman of the Asian Pacific Band Directors Association since 2006 and just became its president in August this year. He is also an advisor to the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Macau Band Directors Association.
He joined the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra at the age of 14 and took part in its concert tour to France and England in 1987, and became one of the first graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he studied trumpet, piano and composition.
Besides performing on the trumpet, Fung is active in teaching and conducting as well. He has been the conductor for the CCC Kei Wan Primary School (Aldrich Bay) school orchestra and band since 1988 and has guest conducted the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra. His ensembles and students have won numerous prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals and Hong Kong Music Office’s Symphonic Band Contests. Some of his former students are now the leading professional performers in Hong Kong. He has led the Kei Wan School Band in Concert tours to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Macau, Zhuhai, Jeju, Singapore, Tainan and Taipei, receiving high acclaim. The band received the Grand Champion in the Symphonic Band Contest in 2005. Fung has also been the music director of the Klappen Ensemble (Hong Kong). Fung has taught in the Hong Kong Music Office and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, also received invitation from the Institute Cultural de Macau to host brass workshop and the be adjudicator in the Macau Youth Music Competition. He is an Overseas Consultant and tutor for the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra, his students have swept up all prizes in the trumpet solo classes in the Macau Youth Music Competition in 2006.
